ANNA, Ill. -- Velma G. Fear, 85, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau, with her family by her side.
She was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Union County, Ill., daughter of Zachary T. and Eva Lindsey Barker. She and Lester P. Fear were married June 29, 1937, in Anna. He passed away June 15, 1991.
Velma lived most of her life in Anna, until her health made it impossible for her to remain at home. She then moved to Heartland Care Rehab, where she lived four and a half years. She made many friends while at Heartland, and will be missed by all of them.
She was a member of Landmark Pentecostal Church in Anna, but while living in Cape Girardeau she enjoyed attending Christ Church of the Heartland when her health permitted.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Herb) Mulkey of Cape Girardeau, Joyce (Dale) Bell of Anna; five grandchildren, LaDonna Clymore of Anna, Phil Goines (Beth) of Shawneetown, Ill., Tom Goines (Michelle) of Cypress, Ill., Debbi Dale-Ford (Scotty) of Evansville, Ind., Scott Dale (Erica) of Evansville; three stepgrandchildren, Ann (David) Farley of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Jana (Jimmy) Williams of Champaign, Ill., and Alan (Joyce) Mulkey of Mesa, Ariz.
She also had six great-grandchildren, Kim Clymore of Lockport, Ill., Valerie Clymore of Anna, Heather Goines of Marion, Ill., Michael Goines of Cypress, Sabrina Dale of Evansville, Scotty Joe Ford of Evansville; four great-stepgrandchildren, Kaitlin and Kirsten Farley of Mt. Vernon, and Stephanie and Skylar Ford of Evansville. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; eight brothers, Lester of Louisville, Ill., Archie and Doyle of Jonesboro, Ill., Raymond and Leonard of Anna, Delmar of Sparta, Ill., Clovis of California, Loren of Vienna,. Ill.; and a sister, Verneal Cobb of Buncombe, Ill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Richard Pearce and the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.
