PERRYVILLE -- Velma Claretta Austin, 75, of Perryville, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 1995, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Ellington, daughter of Floyd Q. and Ester Knuckles Safriet. She and James Robert Austin were married March 25, 1938. He died July 23, 1982...

PERRYVILLE -- Velma Claretta Austin, 75, of Perryville, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 1995, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Ellington, daughter of Floyd Q. and Ester Knuckles Safriet. She and James Robert Austin were married March 25, 1938. He died July 23, 1982.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Brewington of Perryville, a son, James Austin of St. Mary's; two brothers, William Funk of New Orleans, La., L.D. Funk of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a stepson.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and Sunday after 6:30 a.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
