SIKESTON, Mo. -- Van Strickland Jr., 82, of Sikeston died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his home. He was born July 14, 1921, in Grassy, Mo., son of Van and Willie Carmen Anderson Strickland Sr. He married Bonnie Hazel, who died Oct. 11, 1989. Strickland was formerly a Texaco Oil distributor. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 310, Order of Eastern Star and a past worthy patron...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Van Strickland Jr., 82, of Sikeston died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his home.

He was born July 14, 1921, in Grassy, Mo., son of Van and Willie Carmen Anderson Strickland Sr. He married Bonnie Hazel, who died Oct. 11, 1989.

Strickland was formerly a Texaco Oil distributor. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 310, Order of Eastern Star and a past worthy patron.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Green of Sikeston; and two grandsons.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Tom Geers and Dolan Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
