Tyrone Carol Thompson, 76, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at his home in Fredericktown, Missouri.

He was born Dec. 11, 1937 in Cape Girardeau to Julius Thompson and Zelma Thorton Thompson Clark.

He and Diana Jo Francis were married Feb. 15, 1963, at Cape Girardeau.

Tyrone served his country in the U.S. Navy. He had been a licensed realtor and a member of the American Institute of City Planners. He received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

Tyrone retired as an environmental specialist for the city of St. Louis. He enjoyed antiquing and refinishing furniture. He loved wildlife and the outdoors especially at his rural home in Bollinger County.

Survivors include Tyrone's wife, Diana Jo Thompson of Fredericktown; and his son, Jason Andrew Thompson of Tomball, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Bill Roussel officiating.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with military rites conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.
