Robert Nelson "Turk" Moore, 72, 1844 Thilenius, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, son of Fred A. and Anna Baird Moore. He and Lillian Powers were married July 17, 1967, at Scott City. She died May 26, 1986.

Moore had been a licensed real estate agent and broker, and a licensed life and accident insurance broker. He was employed by Ozark and TWA Airlines 33 years, and worked in 10 cities in various capacities. He also managed Cape Girardeau Airport Terminal for Ozark. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of St. Mark Masonic Lodge 93, Capaha Scottish Rite Club, 32nd Degree member of Scottish Rite of St. Louis, Ozark Airlines Alumni Club, Transworld Airlines Retiree Club, and life member of American Legion Post 63.

Moore was a retired member of I.A.M. and Aerospace Workers Lodge 949; former member and treasurer of Elks Lodge 639, and Golden Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, served in the Reserves 10 years, and was a charter member of the local Naval Reserve unit.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Munson of Lenexa, Kan.; a special friend, Marybelle Edwards of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Lyman Moore of Cape Girardeau; a stepbrother, George Points of Cape Girardeau; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, with graveside rites by the American Legion.
