PERRYVILLE -- Troy S. Kiefer, 77, of Perryville died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 7, 1921, in Perry County, son of Herman C. and Bernice Zahner Kiefer. He and Mildred T. Glaub were married Dec. 8, 1950.
Kiefer retired as district manager with MoorMan's Feeds. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent's Society, Ministry to the Elderly and was a eucharistic minister.
He was a life member of VFW, American Legion Post 133 and past commander of VFW Post 4282. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star, Victory Medal, Purple Heart and Battlefield Commission.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Michael, Troy and Daniel Kiefer, all of Perryville, Kenneth Kiefer of Jackson, Dwight Kiefer of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Louise Finger, Kathy Fischer and Mary Hoehn, all of Perryville.
Also surviving are four sisters, Evelyn Swan of St. Louis, Viola Sides and Eileen Kadavi, both of Perryville, Lillian Cleary of St. Marys; two brothers, Everett and Herman Kiefer, both of Perryville; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister, two brothers and three grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 9 p.m. today at Young and Sons Funeral Home, with the Knights of Columbus and parish wake at 7 and the VFW wake at 7:15. Friends may also call from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
