JACKSON -- Funeral service for Troy E. Hartle of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. O. David Griffin will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. A Masonic service and American Legion honor guard service will begin at 7 p.m.

Hartle, 83, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 6, 1913, at Millersville, son of Fred and Jacie Gladish Hartle. He and Ida Hahn were married June 26, 1948.

Hartle was an electrical engineer with the city of Jackson from 1936-54. He then was employed by Associated Pipe Line of America, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, VFW Post 10495 in Jackson, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Valley of St. Louis, Sword of Bunker Hill, Disabled American Veterans in Cape Girardeau, and Altenthal Joerns American Legion Post 158 Honor Guard.

Hartle was a member and past commander of the American Legion post, and past master of Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441 AF&AM in Jackson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brenda Knehans of Hudson, Fla.; a brother, Robert Hartle of Jackson; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sons and a brother.
