Tommy Egson

Tommy L. Egson, 60, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Sikeston, Mo., son of Sam and Leona King Egson.

He was a bridge maintenance worker several years with the railroad, and later worked at Erlbacher Gear and Machine Works Inc.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Egson Jr. and Stephen Hempstad of state of Florida; four daughters, Tamara Nunnley of Cape Girardeau, Katrina Evans and Marthia Egson of Jackson, Tenn., Eisha King of St. Louis; two stepsons, Nicky and Nathan Stephanson of Dexter, Mo.

Also surviving is a brother, Sammy Egson of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Bertha Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Martha Spence of Atlanta, Ga., Ethel McCellan, Teresa Egson and Leona Conrad, all of Cape Girardeau; two stepbrothers, Craig Egson of Omaha, Neb., Marshall Egson of Cape Girardeau; two stepsisters, Linda Sistz of Sikeston, Mo., Kiley Egson of Cape Girardeau; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
