SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Tom Salyers of Sikeston will be held at 1 p.m. today at Murray Lane Baptist Church. The Rev. Kelley Grubbs will officiate, with burial in Portageville Cemetery.
Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Salyers, 74, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1993, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1919, in Lamasco, Ky., son of William Thomas and Noma Faughn Salyers. He and Nadine Thaxton were married Sept. 2, 1946.
Salyers was a retired foreman with U Brand Corp. in Ashland, Ohio. He was a member of Murray Lane Church, and veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry, Ronnie and Danny Salyers of Ashland; a stepdaughter, Vela Elce of Springfield, Ore.; two brothers, J.W. and Cecil Salyers of Jonesboro, Ill.; three sisters, Grace Fox and Louis Smith of Jonesboro, Ann Middleton of Anna, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
