OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Tom Nix, 62, of Olive Branch, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at home. Born Dec. 7, 1938, he was a son of Caleb and Ruby Jordan Nix. He was married on Aug. 20, 1960, to Janet Everett. Nix retired this year as maintenance supervisor at Westvaco in Wickliffe, Ky., where he had worked for 30 years. OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Tom Nix, 62, of Olive Branch, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at home.

Born Dec. 7, 1938, he was a son of Caleb and Ruby Jordan Nix. He was married on Aug. 20, 1960, to Janet Everett.

Nix retired this year as maintenance supervisor at Westvaco in Wickliffe, Ky., where he had worked for 30 years. He had served in the Illinois National Guard.

He was active in community and civic activities, serving on the board of the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Dodge Library Board, as well as treasurer for the Horseshoe Lake Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of Olive Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Klein of Olive Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carolyn Nix of Olive Branch; four grandchildren, Andrea Sue Nix, Michael Nix, Jacob Klein and Andrea Klein, all of Olive Branch; two sisters, Pat Dodd of Springfield, Ill., and Harriett Lambert of Ocean Springs, Miss.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry "Bud" Nix.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. Interment will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dodge Memorial Library or the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce and will be accepted at the funeral home.
