JONESBORO, Ill. -- Tilman M. Lockard, 82, of Florissant, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at Manor Care Health Service in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born March 16, 1914, in Jonesboro, son of Henry Edward and Effie Manus Lockard. He and Harriet Irwin were married Sept. 10, 1938. She died Jan. 26, 1967. He later married Barbara Sheeks Aug. 21, 1982.
Lockard was a 1936 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, and received a master of arts degree from Ohio State University in 1938.
He was a teacher in St. Louis Public Schools from 1937 until retiring in 1984. He was also a residential architect and builder. Lockard was a member of Delmar Baptist Church in St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Wayne Lockard of New Melle, Mo.; a daughter, Marilyn Lockard of St. Louis; a stepson, Brad Howe of St. Louis; two sisters, Dorothy Burke of Boca Raton, Fla., and Evelyn Lockard of Mound City.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna after 11 a.m. Saturday.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anna Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating.
