Thomas Richard "Dick" Smith, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born April 3, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, to Edward F. and Hannah L. Hope Smith. He and Bernice Keller Smith were married Aug. 13, 1960, in Cape Girardeau.
Dick served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills. Dick retired from Montgomery Mobile Homes, after serving as comptroller more than 30 years.
Dick graduated from Trinity Lutheran School, Central High School and Cape Business College. He was a big outdoorsman, as he loved hunting, fishing, playing golf, boating and water skiing.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Keller Smith of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lori Ann Brooks of Memphis, Tennessee; three brothers, George Smith of Wabash, Indiana, Robert Smith of O'Fallon, Missouri, and John Smith of St. Louis; a sister, Jane Ann Kenner of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Alex Brooks of Memphis and Devon Brooks of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. and Hannah Hope Smith.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, and one hour before service time Thursday at Trinity Church of Egypt Mills.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills.
