EAST PRAIRIE -- Thomas Raymond Murphy, 93, of St. Louis, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 1991, at Mark Twain Nursing Home there.

He was born March 10, 1898, in Clinton, Ky., son of Robert C. and Mary E. Bone Murphy. He and Sarah Lucy Bailey were married Nov. 16, 1919.

Murphy was a retired preacher and grocery store owner in St. Louis, and formerly of East Prairie.

Survivors include two sons, Charles and Gene Murphy of St. Louis; seven daughters, Erman Millar of Dittmer, Oval Hale and Margaret Shull of East Prairie, Zelma McNew of Cape Girardeau, Velma Simmons of Affton, Alma Spikes of Barnhart, Cecelia Lewis of Desloge; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. today at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in St. Louis. Burial will be this afternoon in Zion, Ky.
