Thomas H. Kohnen, 90, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in St. Louis to Henry and Teresa Kohnen.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Wemtz Kohnen; four children, Mary (Jess) Bolen of Cape Girardeau, Bob (Patti) Kohnen of Holts Summit, Mo., Joan (Mike) Jones of Hendersonville, Rose (John) Gibson of Alton, Ill.; a brother, Gerry Kohnen (Celeste); 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Kohnen.
Tom was a special agent with Internal Revenue Service. He was very active in Boy Scouts for many years in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau.
He served in the Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
Burial was Dec. 29 in Hendersonville Memorial Gardens, with full military rites.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
