JACKSON - Former Jackson resident Theodore McGowan died Tuesday, April 23, 1991 at Ozark Lake Hospital at Osage Beach.
McGowan spent the last 12 years at Richland.
He was born July 24, 1907 in Pulaski County, the son of Ulysess S. and Elsie V. Tanner.
On March 8, 1946 he married Lorene Eubanks. She died in August 1978.
Surviving are daughters Vickie Penrod of Jackson, Donna Smith of St. Charles, Dean Morris of Winchester, Tenn., and Sony Myers of Perryville; a son, Billy Gene McGowan of Elkhart, Ind.; a brother, Jack McGowan of Richland; a sister, Pat Craig of Sullivan; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
McGowan moved here in the early 1940s from the Washington, Mo. area. He owned and operated sawmills and stave mills in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois for a number of years.
After retiring 12 years ago, he moved to Richland.
He was a World War II veteran who served with the Navy in the Pacific theater and attended First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel in Jackson. Dr. Rodney Travis will officiate.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
