Thelma Irene Freeman, 105, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, formerly of Jackson, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee's Summit. She was born Oct 30, 1910, in Odessa, Missouri, the daughter of James Robert and Lulu Elizabeth Watson Cockran. She and Percy Dean Freeman were married July 15, 1930, in Paola, Kansas...

Thelma Irene Freeman, 105, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, formerly of Jackson, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lee's Summit.

She was born Oct 30, 1910, in Odessa, Missouri, the daughter of James Robert and Lulu Elizabeth Watson Cockran. She and Percy Dean Freeman were married July 15, 1930, in Paola, Kansas.

Thelma lived in Jackson until 1995, where she was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and the Lydia Kies Circle.

Survivors include two sons, Bill D. Freeman of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Philip E. (Marilyn K.) Freeman of Marble Hill, Missouri, formerly of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Carol Freeman of Lee's Summit; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, N. James Freeman; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn B. Freeman; and three sisters, Opal Cockran, Bernice Heaton and Ferne Chitwood.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Longview Chapel in Lee's Summit. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brush Creek Cemetery in Gray Summit, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
