CHARLESTON -- Funeral for Thelma B. Alvey of Charleston will be held at 11 a.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Jon Archie will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Alvey, 87, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born July 16, 1912, in the Henson community of Mississippi County, daughter of Walter M. and Mattie Bullard Johnson. She and Wilbur Alvey were married May 18, 1968. He died Dec. 31, 1975.
Alvey lived in Charleston most of her life. She retired in 1974 as a clerk at Henson Grocery Stone. She was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
