PARMA -- Thelma McKenzie Allen, 80, of Parma died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1919, daughter of George and Lottie Sumpter McKenzie. She married James Luther "Shorty" Allen on May 31, 1946. He died Dec. 23, 1993...

PARMA -- Thelma McKenzie Allen, 80, of Parma died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 18, 1919, daughter of George and Lottie Sumpter McKenzie.

She married James Luther "Shorty" Allen on May 31, 1946. He died Dec. 23, 1993.

She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, a retired schoolteacher who had taught in New Madrid County for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma.

She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Suzanne Blanchard of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; a brother, Wayne McKenzie of Parma; two sisters, Ruth Greenwood of Nashville, Tenn., and Lena Harrison of Parma.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Parma, with the Rev. Jody Duncan officiating.

Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
