ANNA, Ill. -- The Rev. Johnnie Beauford Gibson, 86, of Anna died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at City Care Center.
He was born July 25, 1917, at Bloomfield, Mo., son of John William and Ida Margaret Henson Gibson. He and Reva Lucille Sides were married May 5, 1937, in Alto Pass, Ill.
Gibson served Pentecostal churches in Macedonia, Murphysboro, Elco, Alto Pass, and Sandusky, Ill., more than 42 years. Formerly of Alto Pass, he was a member of Alto Pass Pentecostal Church and the last original board member of the Elco Pentecostal Campground facility.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Gibson of Dongola, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Wright of Anna; a sister, Ida Penrod of Alto Pass; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, a great-grandson, and 16 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Billy Carter and Wayne Emery officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
