PERRYVILLE -- The Rev. James Edward Cahill, 85, of St. Marys of the Barrens in Perryville died Friday, Aug. 6, 1993.
He was born Aug. 27, 1907 in Chicago, son of John J. Cahill and Margaret Gearon Cahill.
A Vincentian priest, Cahill was ordained June 12, 1932. He received his degree from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, Italy in 1934. He was stationed for 15 years teaching at Kenrick in St. Louis.
He taught two years at St. Vincent College in Cape Girardeau and from 1950 to 1990 was stationed in St. Louis with Confraternity Home Study Service.
He retired at St. Marys of the Barrens in Perryville in 1990.
Cahill will rest in state at St. Marys of the Barrens Seminary in Perryville from 5-9 p.m. Monday and from 8-10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the seminary with the Rev. John Gagnepain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A regular novena will be held at 7:15 a.m. Monday. A Catholic wake will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Wilbert Bruns C.M. officiating.
