ADVANCE -- The Rev. Homer Campbell, 88, of Advance died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 2, 1904 to William and Lucinda Shiverdeck Campbell. ADVANCE -- The Rev. Homer Campbell, 88, of Advance died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 2, 1904 to William and Lucinda Shiverdeck Campbell.

He had been a General Baptist minister in Southeast Missouri for 51 years. He was a member of the Bright Prospect General Baptist Church near McGee, Mo.

He first married Myrtle Effie Kinder on March 6, 1926 at Marble Hill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1977. He later married Alma Lemons Deckard on April 27, 1080 at Zalma. She preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 1985.

He is survived by three sons, Gilbert Campbell of Jerseyville, Ill., Willard Campbell of East Alton, Ill. and Raymond Campbell of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Mae Gulley of Scott City and Betty Talley of South Roxana, Ill.; one step-son, James L. Deckard of St. Louis; one step-daughter, Veda Goolsby of Zalma; one brother, Walter Campbell of Advance; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and four step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, one brother, two sisters, two grandchildren, and one step grandchild.

Friends may call between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Eldo Eaker, the Rev. Marcus Ladd and the Rev. Bob Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park.
