Theodore J. "Ted" Williams, 51, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Paragould, Ark., to Galen and Celeste Niebrugge Williams. He and Lori Bartels were married Feb. 5, 1994, in Jackson.

Ted was raised in Paragould and was a graduate of Greene County Tech where he played basketball and was selected to the All-State Basketball Team. He received a bachelor's degree in ag business from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

He worked 30 years in banking, primarily in Cape Girardeau and Jackson. The past 13 years he was a commercial lender at Montgomery Bank in Cape Girardeau.

Ted was a longtime member and former parish council president of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He was a 3rd Degree knight with Bishop Timon Council in Jackson, and a member of the chambers of commerce in both Cape Girardeau and Jackson. He was an avid outdoorsman and supporter of Jackson schools. He especially enjoyed hunting and Jackson Indians basketball.

Loving survivors include his wife of 19 years, Lori of Jackson; three children, Zachary Williams (girlfriend Melanie Essner) of Warrenton, Mo., Taylor and Megan Williams of Jackson; his parents, Galen and Celeste Williams of Beech Grove, Ark.; three siblings, Julie Chipman of Paragould, Tim (Tammy) Williams of Florence, Ala., and Trent Williams of Huntington, N.Y.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wes and Brenda Bartels of Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Wes Bartels, Wayne (Rhonda) Bartels and Pee Wee (Heather) Bartels, all of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Immaculate Conception School Building Fund.
