ADVANCE, Mo. -- Ted J. Lanpher, 82, of Advance passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018. He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Painton, Missouri, to Sam and Maude Fenimore Lanpher. Ted grew up in Delta and was a 1954 graduate of Delta High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 in El Paso, Texas. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 513 for 50 years, while also working the family farm...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Ted J. Lanpher, 82, of Advance passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018.

He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Painton, Missouri, to Sam and Maude Fenimore Lanpher.

Ted grew up in Delta and was a 1954 graduate of Delta High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 in El Paso, Texas. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 513 for 50 years, while also working the family farm.

Ted served his community by serving on the Advance School Board and the Fairview Cemetery Board for many years.

Ted enjoyed morning coffee with old school friends at the coffee shop in Delta. After retirement, Ted and his wife, Barbara, spent their winters in Okeechobee, Florida, and enjoyed fishing on Lake Okeechobee and spending time with their many friends there.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Simmons Lanpher; daughters, Karen Lanpher (Kevin) Keene of Whitewater and Jennifer (Jack) Huskey of Delta; a son, Scott Lanpher of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Jessica Statler, Taylor Wilkinson, Tyler Huskey and Austin Huskey; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nick Lanpher of Cape Girardeau.

His parents and two infant sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at Fairview Baptist Church in Advance.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at the church. Burial, with full military rites, will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fairview Cemetery, 4218 State Highway NN, Advance, MO 63730.
