COBDEN, Ill. -- Sylvia Marie Tripp, 80, of Cobden died Friday, June 7, 1996, at the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born July 30, 1915, at Jackson, daughter of James and Maty B. Smith Cagle. She and John J. Tripp were married Dec. 21, 1935, at Murphysboro, Ill. He died June 4, 1974...

COBDEN, Ill. -- Sylvia Marie Tripp, 80, of Cobden died Friday, June 7, 1996, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born July 30, 1915, at Jackson, daughter of James and Maty B. Smith Cagle. She and John J. Tripp were married Dec. 21, 1935, at Murphysboro, Ill. He died June 4, 1974.

Tripp owned and operated the Tripp Shelter Care Home in Cobden for 37 years before retiring. She had been a secretary of the Illinois Shelter Care Home Association.

Survivors include a son, Larry Tripp Sr. of Anna, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and sister.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Burial will be in the Cobden Cemetery.
