MARBLE HILL, Mo. — Sylvia Marlene Collins, 89, of Marble Hill passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Brownwood, Missouri, to William and Nora Shirrell Long. Sylvia and Raymond James Collins were married Oct. 14, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 2004.
She worked as a sewing machine operator for the Paramount Hat factory.
She attended Hahn Chapel Church when her children were young and later First Baptist Church in Marble Hill.
Sylvia loved to put puzzles together, solve crossword books and play bingo.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ann (Jess) Rambo; four sons, Dennis (Sharon) Collins, Roger (Brenda) Collins, Gary (Roxanne) Collins and Brad (Tina) Collins; two sisters, Shelby Schulte and Kathy Hale; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, one of whom is her namesake, Little Sylvia.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Timothy Collins; parents; sister, Shirley June Long; brother, Ray Dean Long; and a special double cousin, Omega Shirrell Hawkins.
Visitation and funeral were held Monday, Dec. 11, at Ford and Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Officiating was Brother Fred Ritter. Burial was at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery in Marble Hill.
