Sylvester Lee Hartle of 1724 Dunklin died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 77.
He was born Jan. 12, 1921, at Morehouse, son of Sylvester Hartle Sr. and Etta Starr Hartle. He married Mildred Sandvoss on Nov. 21, 1948, in Osceola, Ark. She survives.
He was a truck driver for Penzel Construction Co. in Jackson. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 3838, the Teamsters and Trinity Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean War.
He also is survived by a son, Gary L. Hartle of St. Louis, a brother, David Hartle of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mary Ann Manor of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Hintz officiating.
VFW graveside services will be held at Lorimier Cemetery.
