ST. MARY, Mo. -- Sylvan J. Bruckerhoff, 85, of St. Mary died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital at Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
He was born Jan. 24, 1919, at Rhineland, Mo., son of Clements and Estella Reymer Bruckerhoff. He and Edna "Peggy" Huber were married May 17, 1947.
Bruckerhoff worked for Walter's Pony Express for 50 years. He was a World War II veteran who was awarded four Bronze Stars and was a member of the VFW Post at Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Bruckerhoff of Cape Girardeau, Rodney and Phillip Bruckerhoff, both of Perryville, Mo.; two daughters, Carol Reynolds of St. Louis, Mo., Karen "Susie" Bruckerhoff of St. Mary; a brother, Walter Bruckerhoff of Ste. Genevieve; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and a grandchild.
Private visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home at St. Mary.
A private funeral will be at the funeral home, with the Rev. Irvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery at St. Mary.
