Janet Sue Keesee, 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her home.
She was born in Kingsville, Texas, on Oct. 19, 1938, to Howard and Christine Stephens.
Known as Sue, she loved her work as secretary to the principal of Alma Schrader Elementary School. For over 30 years, Sue was the hub of the school.
Sue will be most remembered for her love of "Elmie," her pride in her family, her joyful nature and putting the "happy" in "happy hour." Sue had an unforgettable laugh and demonstrated sheer delight in life's simple pleasures. Sue's life was clearly a life well lived.
Survivors include her son Stephen (Barbara) Keesee; stepsons, Bill (Martha) Hawn and James (Jan) Hawn; stepdaughter, Catherine (Jack Owen) Hawn; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and "sister"/life-long friend, Mary Ann Stamp.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her life partner, Elmer Hawn Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will gratefully be accepted for The Chateau Employee Fund, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or "Pedal the Cause" for cancer research.
A celebration of life and family visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon March 27 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
