ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Steven Shayle George, 59, of Altenburg passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1952, in Beatrice, Neb., son of the late William L. George and Margaret A. "Peggy" Kave Winkler of Jackson. He and Teresa F. Metcalf were married Feb. 27, 1987.
Steven worked for Allied Waste 23 years until he was no longer able to work due to declining health. He loved the outdoors and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He was of the Catholic faith. Steven enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Nura. He will be missed by all, including his dog, Star, and his rabbit, Bunny Rabbit.
In addition to his loving wife and mother, survivors include a son, Christopher (Elene) Sharp of Columbia, Mo.; a granddaughter, Nura Sharp of Columbia; stepfather, Tony Winkler of Jackson; two sisters, Kim (William) Horner and Linda (Gary) Littlepage of Jackson; four nephews, Billy Horner of Texas, Brad Horner of St. Louis, James Langston of Jackson and Ronald Langston of Little Rock, Ark.; two nieces, Dana Schonhoff of Sikeston, Mo., and Loni Littlepage of College Station, Texas.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and his grandparents.
A private funeral will be held at a later date.
Arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
