TAMMS, Ill. -- Steve Upshaw, 58, of Tamms died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 9, 1950, in Cairo, Ill., to Vern and Lola Holmes Upshaw. He married Debbie Franklin July 5, 1968.
Upshaw was baptized in the Baptist Church in Cairo and had attended Trinity Assembly of God Church.
He was a dispatcher with Waterfront Services 21 years prior to his stroke in 1989. He was a member of Cairo Masonic Lodge 237.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Upshaw of Tamms; three daughters, Tammy Moake of Cypress, Ill., Lisa Phillips of Tamms, Stephanie Sadler of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Derrick Temke, Frankie Temke, Jamie Temke, Rebecca Phillips, Sara Phillips, Jacob Petzoldt, Joshua Petzoldt, Abigail Sadler; a great-grandchild, Justin Temke; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. Masonic service will be at 7 by Cairo Lodge 237.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Delbert Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
