OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Steve Job, 72, of Oskaloosa died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Cape Girardeau to Paul and Melba Moore Job.
He attended Notre Dame Regional High School and Southeast Missouri State University. Following school, Steve joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970 as a jet engine mechanic.
After returning home, he was united in marriage to Marilyn K. Hunhoff on Sept. 5, 1970, in Yankton, South Dakota.
Steve worked at Procter & Gamble as a technician in Missouri before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He and Mari later moved to Oskaloosa. Steve worked for ServiceMaster at Oskaloosa schools as the director of buildings and grounds. He later accepted a job at Central College in 2006 as a maintenance technician in HVAC. He retired from Central College due to health issues.
Steve was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, Knights of Columbus, Rollin' Oldies Car Club, Iowa Street Rod Association and National Street Rod Association. He had a love for street rods and enjoyed attending car shows on the weekends. He also enjoyed attending auctions to find antique gas station memorabilia to add to his growing collection. In his earlier years, Steve loved to go hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
His family includes his wife of 49 years, Mari Job of Oskaloosa; sister, Lisa (Mike) Rouse of Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Frank Myers of Cape Girardeau. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Job; and sister, Paula Myers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. today at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
Memorials may be made to the Ecumenical Cupboard in Oskaloosa or Habitat for Humanity.
Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa was in charge of arrangements.
