DEXTER -- Sterling Otto Stanfill, 73, of Dexter died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on July 31, 1925, at Marquand, son of Edward Otto and Bessie Bell Combs Stanfill.

He was retired from General Motors in Flint, Mich.

He married Bonnie Ruth Starkey on June 18, 1945, at Marquand.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Sterling Eugene Stanfill of Patton and Duke Otto Stanfill of Burton, Mich.; eight daughters, Tressie Ann Cash of Dexter, Brenda Lou Dean Stanfill of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Elva Jean Bell, Joyce Marie Bostic and Martha Anita Ann Haley, all of Bloomfield, Mary Lee Bell of Midland, Mich., Paulette Marcella Farrow of Advance and Valeria Elfredia Korp of Burton; a brother, Gerald Ray Stanfill of Festus; a sister, Donna Jean Hartsell of Pevely; 32 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, seven grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Dale Holcomb of Salem will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
