Stephen R. Snyder, 53, of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, after a long five-year battle with melanoma. Stephen R. Snyder, 53, of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, after a long five-year battle with melanoma.

He is survived by his wife, Christie; sons, Brandon (Taylor) Snyder and Blake (Tamara) Snyder; three grandchildren, Andrew, Elliott and Ella; father, Kenneth Snyder; and siblings, Kenneth, Jerry and Rebecca.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara J. Snyder.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation (www.melanoma.org) in memory of Stephen R. Snyder.
