STELLA CANNON

BERTRAND -- Stella Eunice Cannon, 95, of Bertrand died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.

She was born May 22, 1904, at Carthage, Tenn., daughter of Joseph Layton and Miralda "Tinnie" Matthews Phillips. She and John Cannon were married July 27, 1946. He died Aug. 29, 1976.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Bertrand and had been employed at the Brown Shoe Company at Charleston until her retirement.

Survivors include two sons, James Harold Cannon of Edwardsville, Ill., and Bobby Cannon of Roxana, Ill.; two daughters, Jaunita Yount of Marble Hill and Nellie Stephens of Wappapello; a sister, Estelle Gulley of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home at Charleston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bob Herring will officiate, with burial to follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
