TAMMS, Ill. -- Stanley W. Phillips, 85, of Tamms died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 16, 1929, in McClure, Illinois, son of James Everett and Ruth May Benefield Phillips.
Stanley was a good Christian man and attended Rock Springs Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and at one time worked at Burkart Foam and Bruce's Flooring. He loved to coon and fox hunt. He enjoyed going to horse shows, but most of all he loved to be with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Joann (Jerry) Jacobs of Tamms; a son, Richard (Teresa) Phillips of Tamms; a brother, Eugene Phillips of Olive Branch, Illinois; grandchildren, Amanda and Brennan Gibson of Jackson, Alex Phillips of Tamms and Kelsi Phillips of Anna, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Mallory Gibson of Jackson and Kambria Ressel of Anna; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jewell Tinsley; two brothers, Charles and Louis Phillips; and a grandson, Jason Jacobs.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bruce Clubb officiating. Interment will be in Lindsey Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lindsey Cemetery, Rock Springs Baptist Church or Phillips Cemetery, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
