JACKSON -- Stanley W. Jones, 67, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 11, 1932, at Millersville, son of Purve M. and Myrtle E. Biffle Jones. He married Verna Petzoldt Feb. 3, 1952, in Jackson. She survives.
Jones served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He worked several years at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau. In 1989, he retired from Union Electric after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Altenthal-Jornes American Legion Post 158 in Jackson and the IBEW Local Union 702. He had moved this year to Jackson from Dexter.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve W. Jones of Jackson and Darrell G. Jones of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lisa M. Jones of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Geraldine Abbott and Euldine McWilliams, both of Fredericktown; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating.
Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
