Funeral service for Sister Miriam Coovert was held Sept. 2 at Villa Gesu in St. Louis, with burial in the villa cemetery.
Coovert, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1994, at Villa Gesu.
She was born Oct. 23, 1906, daughter of William and Catherine McNamara Coovert.
Coovert received bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans, and a master's degree from DePaul in Chicago. She professed her vows at the Convent of the School Sisters of Notre Dame at Lemay in August 1929.
She was a high school teacher most of her career. She taught at Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau from 1948-52, and then at schools in the St. Louis area and in Iowa, Texas and Louisiana.
Coovert was director of SSND Postulants from 1961-69, and also did secretarial work in the Motherhouse of SSND. She retired at Villa Gesu in August 1992.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Macolly of Norristown, Pa.
