Sister Mary Ann Fischer, 63, principal at Notre Dame High School 11 years, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. Sister Mary Ann Fischer, 63, principal at Notre Dame High School 11 years, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.

She was born in Washington, Mo., daughter of Edward R. and Agnes Fischer.

Fischer entered the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1956, and professed final vows in 1964. She received a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1960 from the former Notre Dame College in St. Louis, a master of arts in history in 1970 from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and a master of arts in religious education from Loyola University in Chicago.

She taught secondary education 11 years at schools in Quincy, Ill., St. Louis, Santa Fe Spring, Calif., and Jefferson City, Mo. She served as an administrator 23 years at schools in Quincy, Jefferson City, St. Louis and Cape Girardeau.

Since 2000 she had served as parish life coordinator at Sacred Heart Parish in Verona, Mo., and Holy Trinity Parish in Aurora, Mo.

Survivors include two sisters, Jane Fulhage of Rocheport, Mo., Helen Fick of Chesterfield, Mo.; four brothers, Henry Fischer of Lake St. Louis, Mo., John and Edward Fischer of Washington, and Jim Fischer of Clemson, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at School Sisters of Notre Dame Motherhouse Chapel in Lemay, Mo. A prayer service will be held at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Lemay, with Bishop John Leibrecht and the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Motherhouse Cemetery.
