BENTON, Mo. -- Sister M. Angelica LeGrand, 84, of Joliet, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet. She was born March 17, 1916, at Benton, daughter of William and Mary Ann Diebold LeGrand. LeGrand professed her vows in 1935. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate in Joliet 65 years...

BENTON, Mo. -- Sister M. Angelica LeGrand, 84, of Joliet, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet.

She was born March 17, 1916, at Benton, daughter of William and Mary Ann Diebold LeGrand.

LeGrand professed her vows in 1935. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate in Joliet 65 years.

She spent most of her life as an elementary music and classroom teacher at schools in Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Michigan. She was elementary principal 16 years at St. Denis School in Benton. After retiring she was a seamstress 16 years at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, officially retiring three years ago.

Survivors include a sister, Sister M. Rosabel of Joliet; three brothers, Charles LeGrand of O'Fallon, Ill., Francis LeGrand of Florissant, Mo., and Alban LeGrand of Carlyle, Ill.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

The wake was held Dec. 29 at Our Lady of Angels.

Burial was Dec. 30 in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Ill.

Fred C. Dames West Chapel in Joliet was in charge of arrangements.
