CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Simeon E. Adams, 1832 Woodlawn, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Art Basler will officiate, with private entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Adams, 74 years old, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 1991, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1916, at Wellsville, son of Simeon Ellis and Nellie Porter Adams. He and the former Laura Virginia Black were married Oct. 25, 1945, at Montgomery City.

Adams graduated from the University of Missouri in 1940, and was employed by Internal Revenue Service in St. Louis. He moved to Cape in 1954 and opened Sim Adams Tax and Accounting Service.

He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, VFW Post 3838, and Elks Lodge 639. He was active in the organization and administration of Independent Accountants Society of Missouri. He held several positions in the state organization, including president from 1970-71. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Constance Sommers of Tampa, Fla., and a granddaughter, Whitney Sommers of Tampa.
