Sidney McCarty

Sidney L. McCarty, 69, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Patton, Mo., died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Stafford, Va., daughter of Thomas Lloyd and Teresa Noel Loving. She and Robert Emmett McCarty Jr. were married April 7, 1951, in Fredericksburg, Va. He died Nov. 16, 1987.

Mrs. McCarty retired as a secretary for the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense. She was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church.

The family moved to the Mayfield community of Bollinger County several years ago from Bermuda.

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie (Eston) Mayfield of Patton, Nancy Arnzen of Jackson; a brother, Rodger Loving of Fredericksburg; a sister, Mary Burrell of Dahlgren, Va.; three grandchildren, Paget (Jeff) Cook of Patton, Stacey and Molly Arnzen of Jackson.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rob Mehner officiating. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
