Shirley Ann Ruhl, 85, of Gordonville passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 1, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of Thomas and Vinita Moro McFarland. She and Robert R. “Bonehead” Ruhl were married July 3, 1948. He passed away Oct. 16, 2005...

Shirley Ann Ruhl, 85, of Gordonville passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 1, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of Thomas and Vinita Moro McFarland. She and Robert R. “Bonehead” Ruhl were married July 3, 1948. He passed away Oct. 16, 2005.

Shirley enjoyed working puzzles, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, bird watching and spending time with her family.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Leonard) Bellew of Hayti, Missouri, Judy (Reynolds) Weeden of New Baltimore, Michigan, and Karen (Kenneth) Surface of Millersville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Betty McFarland, Mary Ieppert, Joan Dulle, Virginia Iredale and Joyce Wakefield; and three brothers, Donald Taylor, Gary Oliphant and Bill Oliphant.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Eugene McFarland Sr.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Area Special Olympics, 1625 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
