PUXICO, Mo. -- Shirley Murakami Gaines, 73, of Puxico, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born March 23, 1943, in Grand Tower, Illinois, to George and Clara Kenney Livesay.
She married Roy R. Murakami on Feb. 3, 1960, in Bell City, Missouri. He passed away Feb. 21, 2004.
Shirley and Roy owned and operated Murakami Auto Service in Cape Girardeau.
She and Lonnie Gaines were married Sept. 9, 2007, at Puxico.
She was a member of Stoddard County Cowboy Church in Puxico.
She loved camping, fishing and playing poker.
She gave more of herself by taking care of family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Gaines of Puxico; a daughter, Sherri L. (David) McDonald of Cape Girardeau; a son, Mark D. (Laura) Murakami of Jackson; two stepsons, Joey Gaines and Jason Gaines of Puxico; three grandchildren, Julie Gipson, Sierra Gaines and Stormy Gaines; two great-grandchildren, Riley Gipson and Hailey Gipson; two brothers, Wayne Livesay of Ware, Illinois, and Bobby Livesay of Wolf Lake, Illinois; and five sisters, Patty Ferguson of Dongola, Illinois, Nancy Hobbs of Cape Girardeau, Katie Carver and Linda Brown, both of McClure, Illinois, and Bonnie Penrod of Wolf Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Sifford officiating.
Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Stoddard County Cowboy Church in Puxico.
