MARBLE HILL, Mo. — Shirley Fulbright, 80, of Marble Hill passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, singing and talking to her as she slipped into the loving arms of Jesus!
She was born Nov. 10, 1939, daughter of Perl and Stella Kathryn Long Cook. On Jan. 26, 1957, she made a lifelong commitment to the Rev. Jimmie Fulbright. They were married a long 63 years. They were tossed through many trials and sickness, but the love prevailed.
During her childhood years she attended schools at James, Bloomfield, Hurricane and Patton.
To this union, six children were born — Kathy Fulbright, Karla (Kevin) Robinson, Jimmie (Dana) Fulbright, Kimberly (Randy) Keith, Kelly (Denver) Cook and Kristy (Eric) Mayfield.
Through the years, Mom became an excellent seamstress and she loved to make quilts. She has many all over the area, and many she has ready to go. In 2001, after the country was attacked, she made the patriotic bears, and they were shipped to New York City. Mom was so generous, she made bears, dolls and elephants and shipped to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family continued to grow, and 11 grandchildren were born — Emily (Todd) Leslie, Sarah (Jeremy) Weadon Jr., “Mark” (Jessica) Davis, Betsy (Jessie) Sites, Hannah (Pooter) Cook, Hayden Mayfield, Hattie (Daylan) Davis, Hunter (Michelle) Fulbright, Molly (Craig) Davidson, Sydney (Garett) Faulkner and Judson Mayfield.
Mom’s life was totally complete when the grands came along, but it was about to get a lot bigger! Twenty-three great-grandchildren were about to start entering the family! — Kallie, Allie, Maddie and Asher Davis, Thomas and Elliot Leslie, Kaden, Kale, Kizzie and Kash Cook, Bentley, Braxton and Ensley Fulbright, Vincent, Gage and Anna Clair Weadon, Corbin, Collin, Colby and Canyon Sites and Rhyen, Maverick and Sawyer Davis; and three stepgrandchildren, Cassie Davidson, Trevor Davidson and Caroline Crossiboom. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Ray Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Helen Welker and Wilma “Dean” Roark.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Steve Sander, the Rev. Junior Davis and the Rev. Joe Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
