MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Shirley Lou Bollinger, 87, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Zalma, Missouri, daughter of Noah and Lillie Jackson VanMatre. She and Melvin Bollinger were united in marriage July 3, 1951, in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
Shirley was a homemaker and a member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Bollinger; son, Gregory DeWayne Bollinger of Marble Hill; sisters, Ruth Hinkle of Cape Girardeau and Kay Smith of Wetumka, Alabama; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melanie Crews; brothers Gene and J.B. Clint VanMatre; and sister, Freeda Huskey.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim Zych officiating. Burial will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
Donations maybe made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
