SCOTT CITY -- Hugo Ernest "Shine" Sandvos, 83, of Scott City died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 13, 1916, at Jackson, son of Fritz and Elizabeth Walter Sandvos. He and Alma Ann Mirgaux were married Nov. 14, 1936, at Illmo. She died Feb. 18, 1998.
Sandvos retired as a brakeman with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dick Sandvos of Sikeston, David Sandvos of Scott City; a daughter, Amelia Sandvos of Scott City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at St. Joseph Church after 4 p.m. Friday. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
