SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sherrill E. "Al" Alfultis, 59, of Ozark, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born June 26, 1943, in Sikeston, son of Morris and Helen Duncan Alfultis.

Alfultis was a diesel mechanic, drag strip racer, and a fishing guide.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Alfultis of St. Louis; a daughter, Cynthia Baltzell of Jackson; his mother, Helen Gambill of St. Louis; a sister, Judy Fears of Fenton, Mo.; a brother, Robert Alfultis of St. Louis; a companion, Sharron Baumgartner; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Jones-Chastain Cemetery south of Nixa, Mo. The Rev. Warren Todd will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Adams Funeral Home at Nixa is in charge of arrangements.
