TAMMS, Ill. -- Sherman Smothers, 71, of Tamms, died Monday, June 29, 1993, at his home. He was born May 24, 1922, in Thebes, son of Thomas Reed and Rosa Ellen Dunning Smothers. He and Thelma Minton were married Jan. 28, 1942. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Smothers of Tamms; two daughters, Sheila Hale of McClure, Kae Naeger of Tamms; a sister, Juanita Phillips of Barlow, Ky.; a brother, John Smothers of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren...

TAMMS, Ill. -- Sherman Smothers, 71, of Tamms, died Monday, June 29, 1993, at his home.

He was born May 24, 1922, in Thebes, son of Thomas Reed and Rosa Ellen Dunning Smothers. He and Thelma Minton were married Jan. 28, 1942.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Smothers of Tamms; two daughters, Sheila Hale of McClure, Kae Naeger of Tamms; a sister, Juanita Phillips of Barlow, Ky.; a brother, John Smothers of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Gene Hart will officiate, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
