BELL CITY, Mo. -- Shelby Gene Meador, 81, of Bell City passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at his home. Shelby was born Dec. 31, 1936, at Lowndes, Missouri, the son of Clyde E. and Nancy B. Durhan Meador. Shelby and Verna Marler were united in marriage May 19, 1960, at Kennett, Missouri, and she survives of the home...

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Shelby Gene Meador, 81, of Bell City passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at his home.

Shelby was born Dec. 31, 1936, at Lowndes, Missouri, the son of Clyde E. and Nancy B. Durhan Meador. Shelby and Verna Marler were united in marriage May 19, 1960, at Kennett, Missouri, and she survives of the home.

Shelby had been a farmer. He loved to attend auctions, telling jokes and singing Bluegrass music. He was also an animal lover. More than anything, he loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Meador; three sons, Dennis (Sandra) Meador, Eric Gene (Lisa) Meador and Jeffrey (Patricia) Meador, all of Bell City; a daughter, Tammy (Daniel) Bailey of Bell City; a brother, Norman Meador of Alabama; two sisters, Pansy Wilburn of Dexter, Missouri, and Shirley Morgan of Arab, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maurice and George Tony Meador; and a sister, Deloris Hancock.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
