Shelby Mason Long, 80, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Bell City, Mo., died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Monticello House in Jackson, Mo.
He was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Bollinger County, Mo., son of Arnold and Hester Limbaugh Long. He and Lafern "Fern" Kneezle were married July 31, 1941, in Bell City.
Long was a lifelong farmer in the Bell City area. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bell City, Lakeville Lodge 489, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Spencer Long of Springfield, Mo., Dennis Long of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Janet Rials of Palestine, Texas; two brothers, James and Odell Long; three sisters, Violetta Vavak, May Cook, Mary Turner; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo., from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Butler officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
